Overview

  • The Instrument Specialist Coordinator has a key role in the department to keep the day-to-day operations running smoothly. The Instrument Specialist Coordinator orders instruments and disposable supplies needed for day-to-day operations. The Instrument Specialist Coordinator helps with building and maintaining SPM (Instrument Tracking System), problem solving, and IT support issues. The Instrument Specialist Coordinator provides support to the Operating Rooms.


Qualifications

License/Certifications:
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA); Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician (CSPDT) - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD); Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)

Responsibilities

Assists Perioperative Sterile Processing and Supply Chain Manager in monitoring sterile and loaner equipment along with work instructions for updates.
Assists in the distribution of instruments to trays and personnel
Manages instrument repair and maintenance by sending instruments in for repair as required. Works to minimize expenses of repairs.
Responsible for the management of the sterile instrument inventory including educating SPD staff regarding instrumentation.
Develops and maintains inventory as well as assisting in processes to evaluate and add new instrumentation.
Acts as liaison between SPD Department and OR staff regarding instrument issues and changes.
Responsible for maintaining the instrument inventory in the SPD management system database including pictures, work instructions and count sheets.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $20.41per hour - $33.06per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
