Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - MG - Orthopedic Surgeon

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Hospitalist Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner shall assist and supplement the Hospitalist Physician staff by rounding on inpatient units to assess, diagnose, and treat patients as enabled by their training and experience under the supervision and support of the Hospitalist Medical Director. These responsibilities will include caring for Hospitalist inpatients, responding to calls from the nursing staff, assessing changes in condition, responding to changes in condition, ordering tests and images, interpreting tests and images, and ordering medications. The Hospitalist Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner will also prepare admissions in the emergency care center, discharges of patients and will prepare appropriate prescriptions, prepare discharge summaries, arrange follow up appointments, and educate patients and families.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Skills Required:
1. Licensed as a NYS Certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
2. ACLS required within 6 months.
3. DEA privileges required.
4. Prescription privileges required.
5. 18 months experience required.

As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
