Under the direct supervision of the Design for Manufacturing Manager, this role will be responsible for New Product process support and improvements. Location: Faribault, MN Required travel to other Daikin sites: Owatonna, Plymouth What you will do: Primary responsibilities will be for the imbedded, collaborative technical support of New Product Development teams Collaborate on production capacity increases of current and future factory spaces Provide manufacturing engineering expertise to support the management team, collaborate on process improvement, and contribute to continuous improvement/cost reduction efforts with minimal supervision or under the guidance of a senior Manufacturing Engineer Perform time studies to identify potential process improvement, apply the theory of constraints to identify bottlenecks, and optimize work content for improved line flow Analyze operational data to optimize equipment and workspace layout, following lean manufacturing principles & Utilizing the PDCA process to evaluate process changes for performance improvement recommendations Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturability in new product development and create production process guidelines, measurement parameters, and cost estimates for both new and existing products Collaborate on equipment/tool design for production processes and facilitate equipment procurement through quotes/bids Support senior manufacturing engineers with capital investment projects and possibly manage small capital projects (including the creation of funding requests) Assist with the evaluation of hourly employee's job skill knowledge (JSK) requirements Become skilled in the use of tools in the lean toolbox (e.g., root cause analysis, PDCA, kaizen, 5S, etc.) What's in it for you: Medical/Dental/Vision coverage, PTO, 401K match, support for community involvement and much more The ability to make an impact and shape your career with a company that is passionate about growth The support of an organization that believes it is vital to include and engage diverse people, perspectives, and ideas to achieve our best Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent technical, scientific or engineering degree 5+ years of experience in New Product Introduction or related experience Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position Preferred Qualifications: Solidworks, AutoCAD 2D, MS Office and MS Project experience Sheet metal fabrication and assembly using state-of-art manufacturing processes, including cellular manufacturing and Demand Flow Technology Experience with the layout of a new factory and facilitating new plant start up Benefits: Daikin Applied offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: Multiple medical insurance plan options + dental and vision insurance 401K retirement plan with employer contributions matching 100% of the first 3% of employee contributions and 50% on the next 2% of employee contributions Company provided life insurance + optional employee paid voluntary life insurance, dependent life coverage and voluntary accident coverage Short term and long term disability 3 weeks of paid time off for new employees + 11 company paid holidays Vacation accrues on a monthly basis, unless applicable federal, state and local law requires a faster accrual Paid sick time in accordance of the federal, state and local law Paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement after 6 months of continuous service The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $87,000/year - $143,000/year + bonus in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
