Primary Responsibilities
We are seeking a new team member with focus on constructability and cost estimating and interest in work other groups as needed to support our expanding our cost and constructability section within our Denver, CO office. The primary duties of the position will include:
- Develop cost estimates and provide constructability reviews for variety of applications
- Support other cost estimators by:
- Performing estimating quantity take offs
- Investigating construction methodology and applications
- Contacting industry experts and suppliers for quotes and supporting information
- Determining unit pricing utilizing basic estimating principles as well as cost databases
- Develop Timberline databases specific to dams and levee estimating.
- Assist in specification and drawing review with focus on constructability and construction risk
- Assist the engineering design team to ensure full scope coverage is understood and achieved in engineers' estimates.
- Ability to travel and attend pre-design site visits to better understand the site conditions and how they may impact the engineers estimate.
- Write basis of estimate reports and other design reports as needed.
- Support site civil, structural, geological, and geotechnical teams as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in civil engineering, construction management or other related field.
- PE license preferred.
- Strong inclination to help others and collaborate with team
- Able to communicate mistakes, ask for help and learn from mistakes to ensure high quality deliverables and good relationships
- Entrepreneurial mindset and enthusiasm about working in a Matrix oriented, employee-owned company
- Self-motivated, and ability to work both independently and with dynamic teams.
- Ability to prioritize and work on multiple assignments successfully.
- Basic knowledge of industry standard software, including: Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, standard CAD platforms, Timberline, Civil 3D
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills, including ability to efficiently and effectively communicate using virtual platform
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Construction Science Engineering
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in producing estimates in a competitive environment and assessing cost risks based on contract terms and conditions relative to a cost estimate
- Knowledge of EPC estimating methods, processes, and procedures, in addition to the estimate types, classifications, and components.
- Experience with Lump Sum Design Build estimates. Specifically understands detail level estimates and design packages
- Knowledge of market pricing and pricing sources in the area of specialization.
- Knowledge of Work Breakdown Structures necessary for cost management
- Must be proficient with Primavera and Timberline
