This 17-bed true Medical Surgical unit (P4C) is adding clinical talent to their thriving team. This unit provides care for adult surgical patients including surgical specialties in joints, vascular, bariatric, minor neurological and gastrointestinal populations. Also provides care to medical overflow. P4C maintains care for patients 24 hours per day, 365 days per week. To be part of the nursing group on this unit a candidate must be focused on outstanding patient care, team communication, and their drive to excel not only a member of our organization, but also as an individual. This unit consists of new graduates who are stepping into their first positions as nurses, as well as seasoned RNs possessing decades of professionalism in this field. Summary: Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) 1. Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred. 2. License/Certifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Maine. Certification in relevant specialty preferred. 3. Experience: At least 1 year prior RN work experience. Charge nurse or wound/burn experience preferred. Care of post-op surgical patients strongly preferred. 4. Basic knowledge of the research base, theory, practices, principles, and processes of professional nursing. 5. Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. 6. Analytical ability sufficient to identify changes in patients' conditions and to initiate appropriate action. 7. Ability to identify potential crisis situations involving patients and/or families and to initiate appropriate action. 8. Demonstrates a caring nursing practice and promotes a healing environment for patients and families. 9. Demonstrates the required knowledge and technical skills to care for most patient populations on the unit.
