Job Description

Summary/objective

Buffalo Rock is an award-winning Pepsi-Cola Bottler founded in Birmingham, AL, more than 100 years ago. The Central Hub Vertique Supervisor is a key member of the Central Hub responsible for training of all Warehouse Employee-Partners. This position will be responsible for the case picking operation, have a complete understanding of the Vertique system, including VIP, and ensure the coordination and loading of outbound loads to our customer working in conjunction with our transportation team.

  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position. Position is requiredto work all hours necessary to ensure operations function is fulfilled, including nightsweekends, holidays


  • Ensure all Employee-Partners (EPs) are trained on the most recent version of VIP and YMS (Yardview).
  • Must be able to operate and train EPs on Vertique system to include the following:
  • Understand all Vertique Warehouse Operator positions 1 thru 4 and be able to train new and current EPs in each position.
  • Utilize menu driven software, trouble shoot systems issue, and interface with the Vertique support team as required.
  • Record any system events that affect throughput and send out descriptive e-mails each night identifying any issues that affected production.
  • Monitor the palletizers to ensure a continuous operation. The operator should be trained on how to correct all types of common errors on the palletizers.
  • Monitor the case conveyor going into the palletizers to incorrect or product out of specs before it enters the palletizer.
  • Lead others and inform pickers and fork truck drivers when critical items need to be addressed.
  • Must understand and perform the process of releasing route orders to initiate pallet building through the system.
  • Respond to sequence check alarms, or any other system stoppage, and ensure that sequencing is accurately maintained as product flows through the conveyor system.






  • Will conduct daily start up meeting with all team members to communicate relevant information, discuss safety, and motivate team for the days shift.
  • Maintain department KPI and metrics that drive performance of department, improve our service level to customer and improve financial performance as set forth by Executive Director.
  • Proactively manage strategies at all dock operations and make necessary business adjustments in course of day-to-day activities to ensure successful operations.
  • Proactively work with Penske to manage the daily dispatch of outbound loads then ensures drivers DOT hours stay in regulation.
  • Must be available on the floor of the warehouse and manage the team by being on the for the majority of the day. Must be effective at coaching, developing, and mentoring EPs to assist in their career progression.
  • Assist Employee Experience Team with proper paperwork and coordination as needed.
  • Assist inventory team in research and analysis of inventory discrepancies and root causes.
  • Responsible for continuous self-improvement through the knowledge and use of all Company provided training, either web-based, in-house, or any other Company provided method. (Must successfully complete quarterly training curriculum, including but not limited to web-based and facilitated training.)






  • Ensure all forklift operators complete the daily forklift inspection sheets or complete Infolink pre-trip inspections.






  • Required to ensure the warehouse is in compliance of all housekeeping directives.






  • May be required to work varying shifts, weekends and/or overtime if needed to meet customer demand.
  • Required to follow the Good Manufacturing Program GMPs as listed in Code of Federal Regulations CFR 21 section 110. Requires participation in various Food Safety related training that Buffalo Rock utilizes. Required to report potential issues related to Food Safety.






  • Responsible for continuous self-improvement through the knowledge and use of all Buffalo Rock provided training, either web-based, in-house, or any other provided method. Must successfully complete assigned training curriculum, including but not limited to Web Based and/or facilitated training






  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws. Work environment:

Working conditions will require both inside warehouse needs and outside pallet/tray production support. Temperature conditions will vary from extreme heat to extreme cold.

Required education and experience



  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
  • Must have at least 3 years' experience in a supervisory/lead position, preferably in the following roles: warehouse, clerical/dispatch, production, and premise/purchase area(s), in order to ensure best time management in completing his/her assigned duties.
  • Must have 3+ years of forklift experience which includes sit down and stand-up forklift.
  • Must have at least 3 years' experience with a WMS application, or similar system functionality (Red Prairie, SAP, Manhattan, for example), and ability to perform receiving, shipping, and inventory control functions within the system.
  • Requires basic knowledge of equipment /tools needed to fulfill the needs of the essential tasks.
